Prayer Letter

January 2006

Dear Praying Friends,

What Lies Ahead for Bolivia?  Our last term in Bolivia was marked by social and political unrest.  Blockades, rioting and clashes with police and military were commonplace and resulted in the death of many.  The last two presidents were driven from office by street protests that left the country paralyzed.  An Interim president declared an emergency election and Bolivia's first indigenous president, Evo Morales, was elected.  He is a left wing, anti-American activist of the Movement Toward Socialism party.  In comments leading up to his inauguration, he promised to be a “nightmare for America.”  In his acceptance speech he toned down the rhetoric, but there is still a great deal of concern over Bolivia's future.

One of the blessings of our furlough has been to see the level of national leadership in our ministry.  Besides pastoring their churches and effectively carrying on the ministry in our absence, our Bolivian pastors have worked together in teaching in the Institute, ministering in the local prison, starting a new work, and organizing and running our highest attended summer camp yet!  One hundred eighty young people and workers were on hand for the 5th annual summer camp in Tarija.   Twenty-one trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!  There was also a number of decisions for personal purity and commitment to Christ, including several of our young people surrendering to full-time ministry!   What an encouragement to know that whatever lies ahead for Bolivia, there are “...faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also...”

Answer to Prayer!  God  has provided the funds needed to purchase camp property and begin construction when we return!  Praise the Lord!

Prayer Requests:

1.  Pray for the camp decisions, especially the 21 new converts!

2.  Pray for the political situation in Bolivia.

3.  Pray for a fruitful and safe furlough.

Yours for Bolivian Souls,

Paul and Barbara Frizzell
