January/February 2008
Dear Pastor
and church family,
It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of January, 2008. I
don't know if it is my age or time really is passing much faster. Either way
we are thrilled to be able to serve Him and represent you here in Peru.
The Lord has certainly been faithful and we continue to see souls saved and
new people coming to His church in Pro. We baptized 9 new believers on the
9th of this month. The attendance has continued to increase in every service
especially our evening services. We are already praying about an extra
service on Sunday afternoon to be able to accommodate them. Pray with us as
we need to finish the balcony so we can accommodate the over flow. We could
finish it with an offering of $1,500. Pray for this need.
We had our Missions Conference (the first in over 5 years) in Pro. I
preached missions in every service during the month. The church responded to
the challenge to give to Missions with a faith promise for missions of
S/22,644 nuevos soles which would be $7300.
The mission works are all doing well. The mission in Arequipa that is only 9
months old has started a feeding center and the Lord has really used it as a
way to reach adults as well as many children. They are feeding 95 children.
They were able to get a large piece of property donated to them and are in
the process of doing some much needed construction. We need to completely
enclose the property. As of now over half is enclosed with bamboo mats that
offer no security. They need to finish the bathroom, add additional
classrooms, and a place for the pastor and family to live on the property.
For $3500 we could get them into a much better and a more secure building.
The work in Ancash continues to build their feeding center. Their area gets
rain so they can’t use bamboo like we can in the desert. They have reached
some new families through this out reach and are in the process of
discipling the adults.
The children in the center in Gramadal had a nice Christmas again this year.
They are sponsored by the Manna offering and received additional money this
month for gifts. The church is growing as a result of the feeding center and
help to the children.
The work in Ventanilla is doing better and I ask you to continue to pray for
the workers in that area. They would like to start a feeding center also but
they are renting the building and that makes it impossible to start a center
on property that does not belong to the local church.
The church in Pro voted recently to start two new missions. We have several
graduates from the Bible College that will be helping with these two new
works. Pray for the workers and the two new areas: Ensenada and Alaborada
Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your generous Christmas gifts
and your faithfulness to us,
Leonard and Cynthia Myers
