Venezuelan Transitions
Our return to Venezuela the 9th of February brought both joy and
sadness to our hearts. Not only did we have to fight the sadness
of leaving three of our children behind because of the failure of
the Venezuelan government to hand over their passports (after two
years), but also because our children would not be able to say a
final goodbye to those Venezuelans whom they had grown to love.
Obviously, we hope to return some day and renew old friendships
and rejoice in brotherly reunions while still on this earth.
Joy filled our hearts as we were able to see the steadfastness and
continued growth of the church. Fifteen believers were baptized
in February and added to the church. Though some churches suffer
an attendance decrease after a pastoral transition, our church has
continued strong numerically, financially and spiritually after
the fact.
Pastor Otto Zorn has four “Timothys
in Training” that assist him in the preaching rotation and
in the various church responsibilities. Although Pastor Otto could
be supported fulltime by the church, he has chosen to continue to
work his secular job while the church is in construction.
American Transitions
While in Venezuela, we were able to sell off, pack up, and ship
out our personal belongings. I am currently waiting for the container’s
arrival here in South Carolina. We are in the midst of “house-hunting”
and have found the tourist region of the state where my parents
are located to be very expensive. Please pray that our family relocation
will be smooth, quick and inexpensive, so that we may begin our
new ministry to family and to the Latinos of this area. Thanks to
all those who have promised to continue our support through May
to help with this difficult transition time. May God richly bless
you!
